Assessment Comments

Assessment is based on results of IDNR monthly fixed monitoring station near Maquoketa from 2000-02.

Basis for Assessment

SUMMARY:  The Class B(WW) aquatic life uses remain assessed (monitored) as "fully supporting / threatened."  The fish consumption uses remain "not assessed" due to the lack of fish contaminant monitoring in this river reach.   This assessment is based on results of IDNR ambient monthly monitoring near Maquoketa (station 10490001; formerly station 290120) from January 2000 through December 2002.

EXPLANATION:  Results of water quality monitoring at the DNR monthly station near Maquoketa show no violations of Class B(WW) water quality criteria for pH, dissolved oxygen, or ammonia-nitrogen in the approximately 36 samples collected during the 2000-2002 period.   No fish kills were reported for this river segment during 2000, 2001, or 2002.   Thus, the Class B(WW) aquatic life uses remain assessed (monitored) as "fully supported / threatened."   The fish consumption uses are "not assessed" due to lack of fish contaminant monitoring in this river reach.
