Assessment Comments

Stream use assessment in Tama County.

Basis for Assessment

Stream assessment forms indicate slightly below average habitat quality.   Relatively little diversity of substrate and development of pool/riffle sequences.   Frequent/extensive stream bank erosion noted.   Stream channel appears to be susceptible to damage from high flows.   Fairly diverse fish community including game fish species observed at downstream location.   Close proximity to Iowa River probably influences fish commmunity there.   Lower diversity observed at the upstream location.   Map suggests extensive channelization in some segments of the stream.
