Assessment Comments
Stream use assessment in 1992.
Basis for Assessment
Continued to use the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses developed for the 1994 report (=PS). The field sheet from the May 1992 DNR stream use assessment shows a fish community of only three cyprinid species (red, sand, & bigmouth shiner); several species and genera typcial of Class B(LR) streams in this region were not captured. Follow-up monitoring is needed to determine the status of aquatic communities and habitats and to determine the degree to which the Class B(LR) uses may be impaired. [Note: Hoosier Creek was sampled at this location in October 1982 as part of the Iowa State University statewide fish survey; (JRO-158-1992); 11 fish species from 4 families were captured with a backpack electrofisher; 5 of the 8 expected fish taxa for this subregion (47f) were present.]
