The Class A1 primary contact recreation use remains assessed as "partially supported" based on results of 2011 indicator bacteria monitoring. The Class BWW1 aquatic life use remains assessed as “partially supported” based on 2012 and 2013 biological sampling data. All other designated uses were "not assessed". Note: A TMDL covering the bacteria impairments for all segments, with the segment code prefix "IA 02-IOW" in the Iowa River Basin, was approved by EPA in 2018. Due to the completion of the TMDL, the IR category for the Class A1 use was changed from 5a (impaired; TMDL needed) to 4a (impaired; TMDL approved).

standards be met for two consecutive assessment cycles before an impairment
can be removed, the impairment of the Class A1 use will remains based on the
2011 recreation season geometric mean of 132 orgs/100 ml which very slightly
exceeded the Class A1 criterion of 126 orgs/100 ml. Class A1 -
