Stream use assessment in Butler County.

Basis for Assessment

[Assessment information applies to Johnson Creek as a whole.  Johnson Creek was separated into two segments after the 1998 305(b) report.]  "General Use" waterbody.  Used a review of the field sheet from the July 1992 DNR stream use assessment to assess support of the "general" aquatic life uses as FST due to (1) presence of a slight majority of the expected fish taxa (6 of 11) for streams in the Iowan Surface subecoregion (47c) and (2) due to results of a 1981 Iowa State University fish survey (JRO-39-1981) that showed 15 species from 3 families and presence of 9 of the 11 expected fish taxa for streams in this subregion.   Additional monitoring is needed to update this assessment, to better determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats, and to review the use designation for this stream.
