Stream use assessment in Black Hawk County.
Basis for Assessment
Stream assessment forms indicate fair habitat quality. Relatively little diversity of substrate and only fair development of pool/ riffle sequences observed. Frequent channelization and clearing of riparian vegetation noted. Frequent stream bank erosion noted at one location. Fair diversity of fish species, but generally low low abundances observed. Urban land use probably a major contributor to degradation of stream.
