1991 stream use assessment in Delaware County.

Basis for Assessment

This waterbody was broken into two segments in 2002.  All prior documentation refers to the whole waterbody.

Used a review of the field sheet from the October 1991 DNR stream use assessment in Delaware County to continue to assess support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses as FST due to (1) presence of a moderately diverse fish community (10 species from 2 families) for streams in the Iowan Surface subecoregion, despite problems noted with seining through rocky substrates, (2) presence of a majority of the expected fish taxa (7 of 11) for streams in this subecoregion, and (3) indications of good habitat features, including diverse substrates and presence of several pool/riffle sequences.  The most significant impact noted on the physical characteristics of the stream was streambank erosion, with only isolated channel alterations from straightening and pasturing of the riparian corridor.  The data upon which this assessment is based are more than 5 years old.  Additional monitoring is needed to update this assessment.
