Stream use assessment in Winneshiek County.

Basis for Assessment

Used a review of the field sheet from the June 1992 DNR stream use assessment in Winneshiek County to change the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from FST to "not assessed" due to lack of sufficient information on the aquatic communities of this stream to develop an accurate assessment of the degree of use support.  That is, depite presence of at least average quality of aquatic habitats, only 5 cyprinid species were captured.   The field sheet does not indicate reasons for this relatively low aquatic diversity.   Additional monitoring is needed to determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats of this stream reach and to provide the information needed to develop an accurate assessment of support of the degree to which the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses are supported.
