Assessment Comments

Assessment is based on a September 1997 fish survey by DNR biologist Don Kline.

Basis for Assessment

Used a review of results of a September 1997 fish survey by the DNR Fisheries Bureau to assess support of the Class B(WW) aquatic life uses as FST due to (1) presence of a diverse fish commuity (16 species from 7 families) for streams in the Southern Iowa Rolling Loess Prairies (47f) subecoregion, (2) presence of a majority of the expected fish taxa (7 of 9) for streams in this subregion, (3) and presence of game fish species (largemouth bass).   Species present are probably more typical of ecoregion 72 (Interior River Lowlands) than subecoregion 47c due to presence of grass pickerel and central mudminnow.
