Assessment Comments
1992 stream use assessment in Fayette County.
Basis for Assessment
Used results of stream assessment to assess aquatic life uses as FST due to (1) habitat score (26) greater than overall median score (22) for DNR stream use assessments, and (2) fish score (10) equal to 75th percentile of DNR stream uses assessments where fish were sampled by seining. A fish kill occurred on Dry Branch on June 30, 1995 upstream from the Class B(LR) reach approximately 4 miles SSW of Ossian in Winneshiek county. The kill was caused by animal waste from a feedlot; no estimate of number of fish killed and 1.5 miles of stream affected.
