Basis for Assessment
[NOTE: For the 2002 report, the previous waterbody segment for Pigeon Creek (IA 06-WED-0042-0), which extended 33 miles from its confluence with North Pigeon Creek in Pottawattamie County to the headwaters in Shelby County, was split into three subsegments: (1) from North Pigeon Creek to Campbell Creek in Harrison County (IA 06-WED-0042-1), (2) Campbell Creek to Little Pigeon Creek in Harrison County (IA 06-WED-0042-2), and (3) Little Pigeon Creek to headwaters in Shelby County (IA 06-WED-0042-3, this one). See assessment information from IA 06-WED-0042-1 for previous Section 305(b) assessments for the entire 33-mile reach.]
The general aquatic life uses were not assessed. EXPLANATION: Due to segment splitting (see "Note" above), data from the 1997 IDNR/UHL biocriteria sampling site west of Neola are most appropriate for assessing support of aquatic life uses of subsegment IA 06-WED-0042-1; thus, the aquatic life uses of the previously assessed segments of Pigeon Creek (included in subsegments IA 06-WED-0042-2 and IA 06-WED-0042-3) are considered "not assessed."
