Assessment Comments

1991 stream use assessment in Clayton County.

Basis for Assessment

Used a review of the field sheet from the October 1991 DNr stream use assessment in Clayton county to change the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from FST to "not assessed" due to lack of sufficient information on the aquatic communties of this stream.  Despite indications on the field sheet of above average habitat quality-- including diverse substrates, presence of pool/riffle sequences, and only isolated impacts to the physical characteristics of this stream due to channel straightening and pasturing of the riparian corridor-- only three cyprinid species were collected due to predominance of snags and rocky substrates.  Additional monitoring is needed to better define the status of the aquatic communities of this stream and to provide the information necessary to develop an accurate assessment of support of the Class B(LR) uses.
