Assessment Comments
Assessment is based on the results of a 1990 IDNR stream use assessment conducted in Pottawattamie/Harrison counties.
Basis for Assessment
Continued to use the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses developed for the 1994 report (=PS). A review of the field sheet from the September 1990 DNR stream use assessment shows that only about half of the expected species/genera for Class B(LR) streams in this region were present. As mentioned above, this sampling showed unusually low numbers of individuals per species (< 25 fish among the four species from an hour-long collection with seines and backpack electrofishers). Follow-up monitoring is needed to determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats and to determine the degree to which the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses may be impaired.
