Basis for Assessment

[Note:  For the 2002 report, the previous waterbody segment for the Soldier River (IA 06-SOL-0010-0), which extended 35 miles from its mouth to confluence with East Soldier River near Ute in Monona Co., was split into two subsegments:  (1) mouth to confluence with an Jordan Creek near Moorhead (Monona Co.) (IA 06-SOL-0010-1) and (2) Jordan Creek to East Soldier River near Ute, Monona Co.  (IA 06-SOL-0010-2, this one).   See IA 06-SOL-0010-1 for previous Section 305(b) assessments for the original 35-mile river reach.]

The Class B(WW) aquatic life uses and the fish consumption uses were "not assessed" due to the lack of water quality information for this river segment.   The previous (2000) assessment was based on monitoring data from the IDNR ambient monitoring station near Pisgah.   Due to segment splitting (see "Note" above), data from this station are now used to assess the subsegment in which that monitoring station occurs (IA 06-SOL-0010-1, mouth to Jordan Creek).
