Big Spirit Lake IA 06-LSR-1655
Dickinson County S33T100NR36W at Spirit Lake
Assessment Comments
Monitored in 1990 by ISU as part of the Clean Lakes Classifcation study; in 1993 & 1995 for surveys of Water Supply Reservoirs (Miller & Kennedy 1993, 1995); and RAFT Monitoring in 1997.
Basis for Assessment
Used assessments of support of the Class A primary contact recreation uses (=FS), Class B(LW) aquatic life uses (=FS), and Class C drinking water uses developed for the 1994 and 1996 reports. These assessments were reviewed by the DNR Fisheries Bureau in 1998; no changes in the assessments were recommended. Results of the 1997 DNR/U.S. EPA "RAFT" fish contaminant monitoring program showed that levels of few contaminants detected in the composite samples of fillets from carp and yellow perch were well below 1/2 of the respective FDA action levels and below DNR levels of concern. Thus, assess support of fish consumption uses as FS.
