Monitored in 1990 by ISU as part of the Clean Lakes Classifcation study; in 1993 & 1995 for surveys of Water Supply Reservoirs (Miller & Kennedy 1993, 1995).
Basis for Assessment
Used assessment of support of the Class B(LW) aquatic life uses (=FS) and Class A (primary contact) uses (=FS) developed for the 1994 report. Used informaiton for Big Spirit L. from Miller and Kennedy's (1995) survey of 19 water supply reservoirs to again assess support of the Class C (drinking water) uses as FS due to the finding of only low levels of atrazine in the water and sediment of the lake. Levels of atrazine found were approx. 10 times lower than the MCL.
