Assessment Comments

Assessment is based on results of IDNR monthly ambient city monitoring conducted upstream from Spencer at the County Road M-38 bridge southwest of Spencer during the 2000-2001 biennial period.

Basis for Assessment

SUMMARY:  The Class B(LR) aquatic life uses are assessed as "fully supported."  This assessment is based on results of IDNR monthly ambient city monitoring conducted upstream from Spencer at the County Road M-38 bridge southwest of Spencer during the 2000-2001 biennial period (station 10210001 (formerly station 924003)).   EXPLANATION:  Monitoring at the IDNR city station upstream from Spencer showed no violations of Class B(WW) water quality criteria during the 2000-2001 biennial period for dissolved oxygen (minimum value = 7.0 mg/l), pH (range = 7.8 to 8.8 units), or ammonia-nitrogen (maximum value = 0.30) in the 23 samples analyzed.   In addition, levels of toxic metals in the 15 samples analyzed, and levels of pesticides in the six samples analyzed, were all below Class B(LR) chronic criteria.   These results suggest "full support" of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses.
