Assessment is based on occurrence of fish kills in this stream.
Basis for Assessment
Continued to use the assessment of support of Class B(LR) aquatic life uses develped for the 1994 report (=PS) due primarily to continued fish kills on this stream. In addition, less than a majority of the expected fish taxa (5 of 10) for streams in the 47a subecoregion were present. An additional fish kill occurred on Sept. 4, 1996, approx. 4 mi W of Royal in Clay County. No estimates of stream miles affected or number of fish killed were provided; the kill was attributed to "natural causes." Follow-up monitoring is needed to update this assessment and to determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats.
