Assessment Comments
Assessment based on results of a 1995 Biocriteria sampling and 1989/1992 IDNR stream use assessments conducted in Cherokee county.
Basis for Assessment
Used data from one 1995 biocriteria sampling location in B(LR) segment. Used stream use assessment project habitat and fish metrics to evaluate aquatic life use support status. Results of 1989 survey conducted by Olson and Howell (DNR) show a relatively diverse fish community (12 species; 5 families) and a relatively undisturbed prairie stream. Nearly all the fish taxa expected for streams in the NW Iowa Loess Prairies (8 of 9) were present.
