Assessment Comments

Assessment is based on results of three October 1995 IDNR stream use assessments conducted in Monona and Woodbury counties.

Basis for Assessment

Upgraded the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from PS to FST due to a review of the field sheets from the October 1995 DNR stream use assessments that show a fish community that contains all of the expected species/genera* in Class B(LR) streams of this region.   Thus, despite the threats to support of these uses from extensive channelization and frequent stream bank erosion, this stream supports a fish community that suggests that the Class B(LR) uses are fully supported.   * Number of species/families at the Hornick, Holly Springs, and Climbing Hill assessment sites:  5/2; 8/3; 5/3.
