Assessment Comments

Assessment is based on results of IDNR/UHL biological (biocriteria) monitoring in 1997: FIBI = 44 (fair), 35 (fair), FIBI ave = 39.5; BMIBI = 63 (good), 70 (good), BMIBI ave = 66.7. FIBI BIC = 43, BMBIB BIC = 54.

Basis for Assessment

SUMMARY:  The Class B(LR) aquatic life uses are assessed (evaluated) as partially supported based on results of IDNR/UHL biological (biocriteria) sampling in 1997.   The data used for this assessment are now too old for the assessment to be considered monitored; therefore, the assessment is considered evaluated.

EXPLANATION:  The assessment was based on results of IDNR/UHL biological sampling in 1997.   Sampling was conducted at two sites on this river segment.   The F-IBI scores were 44 and 35 (both in the "fair" category); the BM-IBI scores were 63 and 70 (both in the "good" category).   The aquatic life use support was assessed as partially supporting (=PS), based on a comparison of the FIBI and BMIBI scores with biological impairment criteria (BIC) established for previous Section 305(b) reports.  The biological impairment criteria were determined from a statistical analysis of data collected at stream ecoregion reference sites from 1994-2004.   The FIBI BIC for this ecoregion is 43 and the BMIBI BIC for this ecoregion is 54.
