Assessment based on two October 1989 DNR stream use assessments conducted in Lyon county.
Basis for Assessment
Used results of two October 1989 DNR fish surveys (1) 2 mi NW of Doon and (2) 2 mi N of Lester to upgrade the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from PS to FST due to (1) presence of a moderately diverse fish communities for the NW Iowa Loess Prairies subecoregion (12 spp., 3 fams & 9 spp., 3 fams), & (2) presence of a majority of the regionally-expected fish taxa at both locations (7 of 9 and 6 of 9). These data are approaching 10 years in age, and additional biological monitoring is needed to update this assessment.
