Assessment Comments
Assessment is based on results of an IDNR stream use assessment in April 1991.
Basis for Assessment
SUMMARY: The Class B(LR) aquatic life uses are assessed (evaluated) as "partially supported" based on result of biological monitoring and habitat assessment conducted as part of an IDNR Stream use assessment in 1991. Although these data are more than 10 years old--and thus are too old for characterizing water quality on even an "evaluated" basis--the poor biological condition suggested by the results of the fish survey conducted as part of the 1991 stream use assessment continues to suggest that follow-up monitoring is needed on this stream segment.
EXPLANATION: Due to insufficient information, this segment was not assessed for the 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000 or 2002 reporting cycles. Results of the April 3, 1991 DNR stream use assessment in Plymouth County produced only two cyprinid species despite average habitat quality. Although the poor results of biological monitoring may have been infuenced by the time of year when the survey was conducted, additional monitoring remains needed to better define the status of the aquatic communities and habitats of this stream and to provide the information necessary for developing an accuate assessment of support of the Class B(LR) uses.
