Assessment Comments
Stream use assessment in Taylor Co. in 1990.
Basis for Assessment
Upgraded the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from PS to FST due to occurrence of a fish community that contains more than the expected species/genera typical of Class B(LR) streams in this region.* Thus, despite the considerable alterations to the stream channel and aquatic habitats, the composition of the fish community strongly suggests that the Class B(LR) uses are fully supported. Because the data upon which this assessment are more than five years old, the 305(b) assessment category was changed from "monitored" to "evaluated." Additional monitoring is needed to update the assessment and to determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats. *(Five of 6 of the expected fish taxa for streams in the Missouri River portion of the Southern Iowa Rolling Loess Prairies (47f) were present at both of the 1990 DNR stream use assessment sites.)
