Assessment Comments

Stream use assessment in 1992.

Basis for Assessment

Upgraded assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from PS to FST due to (1) results of biological assessments in 1984 (rotenone survey by Paragamian (1986)) and 1992 (DNR stream use assessment) that suggest that Silver Creek supports a fish community typical of Class B(LR) streams in this region.   Although the 1992 DNR stream use assessment produced only about half the expected species/genera (as compared to Paragamians roteneone sample which produced nearly all the expected species/genera), difficulty seining due to debris in the stream was noted.   More thorough sampling would likely produce additional fish species.   Additional monitoring is needed to update the assessment and to determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats.
