Assessment Comments
Assessment is based on results of IDNR/UHL biological (biocriteria) monitoring in 2002: Fish IBI= 34 (fair), BM-IBI= 63 (good); and on 2002 Fisheries data: Fish IBI average (n=2) = 32 (fair).
Basis for Assessment
SUMMARY: The Class B(LR) aquatic life uses are assessed (monitored) as "fully supported / threatened" (minor impacts) based on results of IDNR/UHL biological (biocriteria) and IDNR Fisheries sampling in 2002.
EXPLANATION: The assessment of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses was based on data collected in 2002 as part of the IDNR/UHL stream biocriteria project and on data collected in 2002 as part of a DNR Fisheries stream sampling project: Cold Springs Fish Management. The 2002 IDNR/UHL Fish IBI score was 34 (fair) and the BM-IBI score was 63 (good). The 2002 IDNR Fisheries evaluated Fish IBI average (n=2) was 32 (fair). The aquatic life use support was assessed as fully supporting/threatened (=FS/T), based on a comparison of the F-IBI and BM-IBI scores with biological assessment criteria established for previous Section 305(b) reports. The biological assessment criteria were determined from a statistical analysis of data collected at stream ecoregion reference sites from 1994-2001.
