Assessment Comments
Stream use assessment in September 1991.
Basis for Assessment
Used a review of the field sheet from the September 1991 DNR stream use assessment SW of Shenandoah to continue to use the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses developed for the 1994 report (=FST). Results of the stream assessment show a very diverse fish community (16 species from 5 families) for streams in the Loess Hills and Rolling Prairies (47e) subecoregion and show the presence of nearly all the expected fish taxa (6 of 7) for streams in this subecoregion. The primary threat to the continued support of the Class B(LR) uses identified during the assessment was frequent channelization and row cropping impacts. The data upon which this assessment was based are more than 5 years old. Additional monitoring is neede to update this assessment and to determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats.
