Assessment Comments
Two stream use assessments in July 1991.
Basis for Assessment
Used a review of the field sheets from the 2 July 1991 DNR stream use assessments to upgrade the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from PS to FST due to (1) presence of relatively diverse fish communities at both locations (dstr->upstr: 15 species from 4 families and 11 species from 3 families) for streams in the Central Irregular Plains (40) ecoregion, (2) presence of a majority of the expected fish taxa for the region at both sites assessed (dstr->upstr: 6 of 8; 7 of 8), and (3) despite comments regarding habitat quaity in the assessment developed for the 1994 305(b) report, the field sheets indicate that the most important threat to support of the aquatic life uses are "frequent" stream bank erosion; no habitat impacts were scored as "extensive." "Old channelization" was also mentioned as an impact to stream quality.
