1990 stream use assessment in Dubuque County.

Basis for Assessment

Used a review of the field sheet from the August 1990 DNR stream use assessment in Dubuque County to change the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from FST to "not assessed" due to insufficient information on the aquatic communities of this stream.  Although 5 species from 4 families were collected with seines, thsese results are contrary to the above average habitat quality present, with very diverse substrates, numerous pool/riffle sequences, and only minor channel alterations (isolated pasturing of the riparian zone).  The poor sampling results are likely due to the difficulty of seining over coarse substrates.  Additional monitoring is needed to determine the status of the aquatic communities of this stream and to provide the information needed to develop an accurate assessment of the support of the Class B(LR) uses.
