Assessment based on information from the IDNR Wildlife Bureau.

Basis for Assessment

SUMMARY:  The assessment of support of the Class B(LW) aquatic life uses was changed from "partially supported" (evaluated) to "fully supported / threatened" at the recommendation of the IDNR Widlife Bureau.    Fish consumption uses remain "not assessed."  This is the same assessment as that developed for the 2002 reporting cycle.

EXPLANATION:  According to the local DNR Wildlife Biologist, this wetland area is now managed as a moist soil waterfowl impoundment.   Thus, although siltation impacts remain a concern, these impacts are now less significant to the management goals for this wetland.

Fish consumption uses remain "not assessed" due to the lack of fish contaminant monitoring at this wetland.   In general, Iowa wetlands are not managed for recreational fisheries; thus, fish contaminant monitoring is not typically conducted at these waterbodies.
