Basis for Assessment
Used results of October 1992 DNR stream use assessment to assess support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses as PS due to (1) habitat score (19) worse that the overall median score (22) for stream use assessments and (2) indications on field sheet of frequent channel alterations due to pasturing and channelization and lack of pools and/or riffles. Paragamian, in Proc. Ia Acad Sci (1987: 94(4):128-134) describes Cylinder Creek as a "nearly valueless environment" for fish due to channelization impacts. This stream had the lowest fish biomass of the streams in his 1987 comparison.
