Assessment Comments

Assessment is based on results of (1) ISU lake survey, (2) surveys by IDNR Fisheries Bureau, (3) ISU report on lake plankton communities, and (4) results of U.S. EPA/IDNR fish tissue monitoring in 1997.

Basis for Assessment

Continued to use assessments of support of the Class A primary contact recreation uses and the Class B(LW) aquatic life uses (both=PS) developed for the 1994 report.   These assessments were reviewed and approved by the DNR Fisheries Bureau.   Results of the 1997 DNR/U.S.  EPA "RAFT" fish contaminant monitoring program showed that levels of the relatively few contaminants detected in the composite samples of fillets from carp and yellow perch were well below 1/2 of the respective FDA action levels and DNR levels of concern.   Thus, assess support of the fish consumption uses as "fully supporting."
