Basis for Assessment
Continue to use the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses used for the 1996 report. Due to relatively low number of species/families (8/2) for streams in the Des Moines Lobe subecoregion (47b), and due to the presence of less than a majority of the expected fish taxa (5 of 11) for streams in this subregion, follow-up monitoring is needed. Low diversity likely due to difficulty seining through coarse substrates, but follow-up monitoring is needed to (1) update this assessment, (2) determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats, and (3) determine the degree to which the Class B(LR) uses may be impaired.
