Assessment Comments

1990 stream use assessment in Dubuque County.

Basis for Assessment

Used results of the August 1990 DNR stream use assessment near Rockdale (S of Dubuque) to assess support of the Class B(WW) aquatic life uses as FST due to (1) habitat score (31) much better than the overall median score (22) for DNR stream use assessments and (2) indication on field sheet of excellent aquatic habitat: very diverse substrates, numerous pool/riffle sequences, no channel alterations, and very stable and well-vegetated stream banks.  Results of seining are not very usesful; habitat too rocky for effective seining.  Field sheet does not suggest any threats to the continued support of the aquatic life uses.
