Assessment is based on results of IDNR ambient monthly monitoring east of Grimes in 2000 and 2001.

Basis for Assessment

[NOTE:  For the 2002 report, the previous waterbody segment for Beaver Creek (IA 04-UDM-0110-0), which extended 30 miles from its mouth to the confluence with Slough Creek in Dallas County was split into two subsegments:  (1) mouth to Polk / Dallas county line (IA 04-UDM-0110-1) and (2) from Polk / Dallas county line to confluence with Slough Creek (IA 04-UDM-0110-2).   See above for previous Section 305(b) assessments for the original 30-mile river segment of Beaver Creek.]

SUMMARY:  The Class B(LR) aquatic life uses are assessed as "fully supported."  The source of data for this assessment is the results from the INDR ambient monthly monitoring station on Beaver Creek east of Grimes (Station 10770001 (formerly Station 420307).   EXPLANATION:  Monitoring at the IDNR station east of Grimes showed no violations of Class B(LR) water quality criteria during the 2000-2001 biennial period for dissolved oxygen, pH, or ammonia-nitrogen in the 24 samples analyzed, for toxic metals in the 4 samples analyzed, and for pesticides in the six samples analyzed.   These results suggest "full support" of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses.
