Assessment Comments

Assessment is based on results of 1996 Biocriteria sampling: Fish IBI=28 (fair), BM-IBI=67 (good).

Basis for Assessment

Used information from the July 1996 DNR stream biocriteria sampling to assess support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses as FST:  majority of the expected fish taxa present; no violations of Class B(LR) WQ criteria in the water sample collected during biocriteria sampling.   Review of field sheets from the October 1992 DNR stream use assessment shows moderately diverse fish communities (species/families:  11/5, 8/4) and a majority of the exected fish taxa (10 of 11 and 7 of 11) for streams in the Des Moines Lobe subecoregion (47b).  Field sheets do not indicate significant impacts from channel alterations or streambank erosion but do indicate a predominance of shifting sand substrate.
