Assessment Comments

Stream use assessment and a 1988 fish survey conducted by IDNR.

Basis for Assessment

Continued to use the assesment of support of the Class B(WW) aquatic life uses developed for the 1996 report (=FST).   A review of the field sheet and field notes from the DNR stream use assessment and fish survey shows that a majority of the expected fish taxa were present at both locations (6 of 7 and 4 of 7) for streams in the Loess Hills and Rolling Prairies subecoregion (47e), with the expected game fish species (channel catfish) reported as "abundant" at the fish survey site SE of Coon Rapids.   Most of the data used to develop these assessments are well over 5 years old.  Additional monitoring is needed to update this assessment and to determine the status of the aquatic communities and habitats.
