Stream use assessment.

Basis for Assessment

Used a review of the October 1992 DNR stream use assessment in Dallas County to upgrade the assessment of support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses from FST to FS due to (1) relatively diverse fish community (13 species from 5 families) for streams in the Des Moines Lobe subecoregion, (2) presence of nearly all the expected fish taxa (10 of 11) for streams in this subecoregion, and (3) lack of significant impacts to aquatic habitats from channel alterations or streambank erosion.   Notes on field sheet indicate the importance of meanders to the quality of the aquatic habitat, especially with regard to pool formation.   No significant threats to aquatic communities or habitats noted on the field sheet.
