Basis for Assessment

SUMMARY:  The Class B(WW) aquatic life uses were "not assessed."  The fish consumption uses remain "not assessed."  EXPLANATION:  The DNR quarterly water quality monitoring station near Redfield (station 429340), upon which previous assessment of the Class B(WW) uses was based, has not been monitored since the 1992-93 biennial period.   These data are now considered too old (greater than five years) for developing a valid assessment of support of the Class A and Class B(WW) uses.   Thus, the Class B(WW) aquatic life uses were changed from "fully supported / threatened" to "not assessed."  As part of DNR's expanded water quality monitoring program, monthly monitoring at the Redfield station began in October 1999.   The fish consumption uses remain "not assessed" due to lack of fish tissue monitoring on this river reach.
