Assessment Comments
Stream use assessment.
Basis for Assessment
Used a review of the field sheet from the September 1992 DNR stream use assessment S of Lohrville to continue to assess the support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses as FST due to (1) presence of a relatively diverse fish community (16 species from 5 families) for streams in the Des Moines Lobe subecoregion, (2) presence of nearly all the expected fish taxa (10 of 11) for streams in this subecoregion, and (3) indications of above average habitat quality (see assessment for the 1994 305(b) report above). Threats to the continued support of the Class B(LR) uses include over- pasturing of the riparian corridor and channelization in headwater reaches. Nutrient impacts in this upper (Class B(LR)) reach seem to be less obvious than in the lower (Class B(WW)) reach of Cedar Creek. A fish kill was reported near Lohrville on August, 16, 1995. The kill was attributed to natural causes. No other information is available.
