Three stream use assessments in 1990.

Basis for Assessment

Used results of the three October 1990 DNR stream use assessments to assess support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses as PS due to (1) habitat scores (15, 18 and 19) all worse than the overall median score (22) for DNR stream use assessments, (2) indications on field sheets of frequent channel alterations (straightening and pasturing) and frequent to extensive stream bank erosion, (3) notes on field sheets indicating severe siltation problems in stream bed (e.g., "very soupy muck 3 feet deep," and (4) relatively depauperate fish community (1, 6, and 5 species) for this region (although field sheets note difficulty of seining due to rocks/snags/silt as assessment sites).   At the two upstream assessments, diverse substrates and presence of several pool/riffle sequences noted.
