Assessment Comments

Five stream use assessments between 1990 and 1994.

Basis for Assessment

Used results of the five DNR stream use assessments conducted from April 1990 to July 1994 to assess support of the Class B(LR) aquatic life uses as FST due to (1) habitat scores (24, 28, 28, 27, and 19) much better than the overall median score (22) for DNR stream use assessments and (2) indications on field sheets of divese substrates, several pools and/or riffles (some pools too deep to sample), "isolated" to no channel alterations, moderately stable stream banks, and tree-dominated riparian zones.   Fish scores were generally below (worse) than respective 75th percentile scores for seining and electrofishing.   The cause of these low scores is difficult to determine, although difficult sampling conditions (deep water, wide channel, seining through rocks and snags) likely contributed to these low scores.
